A Day in the life of the Local RSPCA Officer
an illustrated talk by Paul Heaton about his work with wildlife and farm animals as well as pets.

Wednesday 3rd March 7.30pm
Macclesfield & Congleton Group AGM and ‘The Living Landscape’, a talk by CWT’s Chief Executive Janel Fone about the nationwide project to reconnect fragmented habitats in town and countryside.

Friday 12th March 7.30pm
Quiz evening A social evening with a general quiz. Bring friends and any drinks and snacks you fancy; we will provide tea and biscuits as well during the interval. There will be a small raffle to raise funds for the Trust.

Ted Brabin Bees and bee keeping Ted is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable local speker. He has degrees in biology and spent 25 years as a police officer, which, he says, naturally follow!

Wednesady 17th March 8pm
South Group AGM and talk by Ray Jackson on the wildlife hospital at Lower Moss Wood. Wildlife hospitals admit a very wide range of animals and Ray’s talk and experiences with wildlife will be really enlightening. Admission £3 which includes tea or coffee and biscuits after the talk.

APRIL

Friday 9th April 7.30pm
Basically Bats with Nic Harding
Room B, Heswall Hall. Nic is the Ranger for Flaybrick Memorial Gardens, Bidston Hill and Tam O’Shanter Urban Farm. Bats are one of his particular interests, and he will be giving an illustrated presentation of those in Britain and in some other parts of Europe.

Group AGM and Pickering’s Pasture The Group's AGM will be followed by a walk round Pickering’s Pasture. There are always birds, and we should find some spring flowers.

Saturday 24th April 2pm
Expedition to Tom’s Paddock, Foxes Wood and Thornton Wood. Join members of Wirral Wildlife on a guided walk round some of the Trust’s reserves around Upper Dibbinsdale. We meet at 2 pm on Thornton Common Road beside the motorway bridge (Grid Ref: SJ328813) Limited parking; car–share if possible. The walk involves crossing the Clatter Brook so Wellington boots are advisable.

MAY

Saturday 15th May 2pm – 4pm
Garden Event for members and friends at Caldy. Bring & Buy, sale of Trust goods, plant stall and raffle in the home of a Trust member. Admission 50p including refreshments. Details and location: telephone 0151 625 5570.

Sunday 16th May 10am
Gowy Meadows Reserve This is the Trust’s largest reserve. It has records of over 100 species of birds, and is home to water voles and other small mammals, with the hope that otters could return. It also has some very rare aquatic invertebrates and plants, and is good for dragonflies. The Trust manages the reserve by grazing with traditional breeds of cattle and by managing the water levels. The ground can be very wet underfoot.
