COSY ROOM FOR TWO NEEDED THIS VALENTINE'S DAY

As National Nest Box week gets underway The Wildlife Trusts are urging people to put their match-making skills to work this Valentine's Day by providing a romantic getaway for our feathered friends.

National Nest Box Week, run by the British Trust for Ornithology, kicks off on Sunday 14 February and runs until Sunday 21 February. It is a great opportunity to make a tender gesture and show your appreciation for some much - loved garden companions, by giving them a place to set up home.

“Birds like blue tits, robins, and a whole range of other species find ready-made nesting places very beneficial when it comes to egg-laying season, and there is the added bonus that if a couple moves in you can witness their daily lives, from nesting through to the chicks fledging,” says Paul Wilkinson, head of A Living Landscape at The Wildlife Trusts.

“It might not be ‘ Gone With the Wind ' but nature is always full of surprises, so once your nest box is built and erected you can just sit back and watch the drama unfold ! ”

Here in Cheshire, you are invited make your own nest box in a Swallows and Amazons day at Cheshire Wildlife Trust's HQ, Bickley Hall Farm at Bickley nr Malpas.

On Sunday 14 February, from 10am–2pm, the day offers a unique chance to come and make nests for house martins and swallows with bird expert Jeff Clarke.

Design and decorate your nests whilst discovering more about the birds around you.

For further details and booking (essential) please contact Gill or Jan on 01948 822228 or   watchevents@cheshirewt.cix.co.uk
