Urenco pledges Platinum dedication to local wildlife

Chester-based energy company Urenco has proven just how precious local environmental work is by becoming Cheshire Wildlife Trust's first ever Platinum level corporate member and, in doing so, became the only Platinum level member of any Wildlife Trust in the UK.

Urenco joined The Trust in 2001 to become one of six Gold level corporate members but decided to increase its dedication this year to extend its level of responsibility for the environment and community in which it operates.

As a result of Urenco's enchanced commitment, Cheshire Wildlife Trust will receive a substantial financial grant as well as more help with activities on the ground. A recent project that's typical of the partnership between the charity and Urenco, was the Ellesmere Port schools' environmental days, which gave children a true taste of nature at Thurstaston. The project was so successful it will be repeated next year and the added support will help allow more schools from the area to get involved.

The boost to Cheshire Wildlife Trust comes during its 45th anniversary year and ensures that it can continue its work to preserve Cheshire's natural environment. Corporate Affairs Officer Allan Stubbs presented Graham Haspey, Plant Support Manager from Urenco, with a specially commissioned wildlife print by Roger Stephens to mark the new membership status. He says: "Cheshire Wildlife Trust carries out vitally important work in our area, which relies on the support of organisations such as ours.  We are therefore very proud to be increasing our commitment to the charity to support a range of environmental projects."

Allan Stubbs from Cheshire Wildlife Trust says: "We appreciate support from all of our corporate members, but welcoming our first ever Platinum member is extra special. Urenco is an outstanding example of an organisation which excels in its commitment to the community and being a global leader in providing sustainable energy."

Corporate membership is a great way for businesses to make a contribution to the upkeep the local environment. Cheshire Wildlife Trust offers a range of attractive corporate membership packages from standard through to platinum level. For further details please call Allan Stubbs on 01948 822205.
