PRESS RELEASE

4 March 2008

Walk for wildlife and help the environment

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is inviting nature lovers to join a Spring sponsored walk that will keep the whole family entertained and raise vital funds for the work of the charity on Sunday 6 April.

Walkers can choose between a leisurely three-mile farmland stroll around the grounds of Bickley Hall Farm or a more strenuous ten-mile route along the Sandstone Trail, which includes a circuit of the picturesque Larkton Hill along the way.

As well as picking up wildlife pointers from the knowledgeable guides accompanying each walk, photography enthusiasts can put their skills to the test by snapping wildlife and entering their pictures in a competition to get published in the Trust’s quarterly magazine, The Grebe. Children can also compete to get their work published by sending in an illustrated account of the day after the event.

Carole Bentley from Cheshire Wildlife Trust, organiser of the walks, says: “This event is a first for the Trust and we’ve already had a lot of interest so anyone who wants to come along needs to get booked in soon.

These are sponsored walks with a difference. Participants will not only be raising funds to protect wildlife, they’ll also enjoy a sociable country walk and gain an insight in to the Cheshire countryside at the same time.”

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is encouraging participants to raise at least £50 each in sponsorship. There is a small registration fee for each walk.

For a registration form please call 01948 822 209 or email (unfortunately neither walk is suitable for dogs).
