Cheshire Wildlife Trust are looking for volunteers to come into the office and help undertake GIS work. Volunteers need to already have some experience of using GIS and would need to able to volunteer in the office between Monday and Friday.

Needed: previous experience of using GIS especially Mapinfo.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust are looking for a volunteer to train a few of our staff in the use of Access Databases and to help set up a database to assist in the management of volunteer details. Training would need to take place on week days in our office at Bickley Hall Farm.
Based: Bickley Hall Farm, Malpas, Cheshire, SY14 8EF.
Dates: week days 2010
Needed: ability to train others in how to set up an Access database from scratch.
If you are interested in getting involved in practical conservation work on an occasional basis, then there is the opportunity to volunteer with our local groups. Each of the local groups has its own programme of events and working parties. In the winter months you can usually find a working party out each weekend on a reserve somewhere in the County. You are welcome to get involved with activities run by any of the local groups, not just those in your own area.

Volunteer BAP Data Officer
Wanted: This role will involve researching and collating data to support the ongoing reporting of BAP within the Cheshire region. This data will be input into various formats including excel and on to the web based Biodiversity Action Reporting System (BARS). This role will be mainly desk based but also involve visits out to gain further data. Specific requirements: Computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Internet Explorer. Wildlife Watch Leaders
Wanted: Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts and is the UK’s leading club for young environmentalists. It is made up of a network of local groups, run by volunteers, organising environmental activities for children. Groups normally meet for a couple of hours once a month or in school holidays and provide enjoyable fun, environmental activities for children between the ages of eight and fourteen. Based at: We are currently looking to recruit new Wildlife Watch Leaders throughout Cheshire, Halton, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington and especially the Wirral. Dates: as soon as possible Needed: A typical Wildlife Watch Leader or helper is someone who enjoys working with children, is enthusiastic and concerned about the environment and enjoys being outdoors. Leading a group can be a fantastic experience and makes an invaluable contribution to the work of Cheshire Wildlife Trust and to promoting wider interest in the environment. Volunteer Receptionist
Wanted: Cheshire Wildlife Trust are looking for Volunteers to join their friendly team and help out on Reception in their office at Bickley Hall Farm near Malpas. Duties will include answering the phone, greeting visitors, dealing with post, petty cash and general admin work. Full training will be given. If you could commit to volunteering with us on a regular basis, even if it was just for one day or even half a day each week we would love to hear from you Based at: Cheshire Wildlife Trust HQ, Bickley Hall Farm, Bickley, Malpas, SY14 8EF. Livestock Monitoring
Wanted: we are looking for people who live near any of our nature reserves who could give us a few hours each week to monitor the wellbeing of our grazing animals. This simply involves taking a walk around the reserve every couple of days, doing a head count of any cattle or sheep, visually checking fences and gates are secure, visually checking for hazards that could harm the animals eg. dumped rubbish, unstable trees etc, looking out for basic welfare issues or injuries that can be identified from a distance such as cuts, limping etc. It will not be necessary to approach the cattle or deal with any of these problems personally but you will be asked to make regular reports of any observations or concerns to CWT reserves staff by email or phone. Based at: Cheshire Wildlife Trust reserves all around the Cheshire region Dates: Anytime Needed: a reasonable level of general fitness as many of the reserves require some walking to reach from the nearest road and may involve climbing over stiles etc. You will not need to have any animal handling, farming or veterinary knowledge and full training will be given. Volunteer Speakers
Wanted: If you have an interest in wildlife, are confident about giving presentations and like meeting new people, you could join our team of speakers who travel to a variety of groups, including special interest and community groups, clubs, WI’s etc .
Based At: Locations all around the Cheshire region Dates: Ongoing, weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Needed: No special experience is needed as we will provide plenty of background information on the Trust and help you to produce a Powerpoint presentation to accompany your talks. You are likely to need your own transport as many of the talks may be in rural areas but travel expenses will be reimbursed.
